Joshua Hobbs asks
Does this allow me to fit four briskets in my smoker at once? I'm not clear as to how much clearance there is between the top shelf, and top of the smoker.
1 people already voted for this question.
-

You can. There is about 4.75" between each rack. We kinda split the difference between 1st grate and top rack. We did our best to maximize it. The chamber is only about 18" round so there isn't much space to work with.

Has anyone had problems with rust?
-
Hi, once seasoned, they will not rust. Kind of like a cast iron pan. Should it be neglected or rust due non use, just clean the rust and re-season. Frequent use and cleaning will keep them and in good shapr

JD Hood asks
Presume we can add 1/4" to the overall width of the shelves to get the minimum cook chamber width needed to fit this kit. Would it be possible to list the spacing of the bottom angle-iron "feet" (front to back as it would sit in a smoker), as well as the overall bracket height, so we can better judge if it will fit in other similar smokers?
Thanks!-

Joe Boyce asks
Do both trays slide in and out freely for food access when installed ?
The photo looks like the lowere tray may not slideout.
Thanks-

This was not designed as a slide out, since it is no drill, which was more important for us as many people don't like to drill. You could probably modify it to slide out, but it would have to be bolted in....or screws at least.

Hi I was just wondering if you were able to determine if this will fit the Highland Reverse Flow smoker. The internal size appears to be the same as the regular smoker and I would really like to add an additional shelf to the unit.
-

Unfortunately, we do not have that smoker here at the shop to try it, so we are unable to guarantee fitment at this point. If you are willing to try it, we would pay shipping back if it doesnt fit. thanks

I have the reverse flow highland and I ordered the Big Cook expansion rack system with the understanding that I would probably have to modify the firebox side rack holder because of the reverse flow smokestack that's located next to the fire box. However that was not the case, it cleared the smoke stack but I did have to grind a half inch slot into the right side rack holder (top and bottom) to accommodate the extra bracket against the firebox that holds the first OME baffle plate. After that mod it fit fine BUT you can not use the OEM baffle system. The fix I did for that was to order the LavaLock Highland Reverse flow upgrade baffle plate. Now my OLJ Reverse flow Highland is awesome.

Yes it will fit! Just like above answer you will have to make a slight modification to the bracket against the firebox, but instead of grinding a half inch slot, I took a pair of pliers and a slight been front and back rack holder slid right in
