Pro tip/installation note:
There is no need to bolt the two large plates together. We leave them separated for easy cleaning or removal.
Always use a full load of charcoal for the best results!

What is the width of this? I have an old New Braunsfield Black Diamond and the ID is 16".

The Highland is 16x35". We suggest you make a template for correct measurements before you place your order.

Do you need to season the tuning plate after installation?

Although not necessary, it doesn't hurt to do. Just season it with some vegetable oil and heat it at around 200 degrees for a couple of hours.

***If using with the baffle plate, you may have to make two tiny notches at the end of one of the BigCook brackets (see pics on product page)

Will this fit on my New Braunfels black diamond offset smoker?

I do not know. We do not have that smoker in house to check. You can always look on the baffle plate by size page and follow the directions to make a mock up of the plate out of cardboard to see if it fits.

Hi. In order for this to work properly, do I need to drill two holes in the plate to allow the heads of the two bolts That connect the firebox to the cc to pass through so this sits flush? This seems like some pretty thick steel to be drilling through.

<p>Not necessary. Just make sure the factory bolt heads are pointing into the firebox. The plate will snug up nicely to the bolt heads in the cook chamber. you'll have a tiny gap but thats nornal. </p>

I understand that these even out the temperatures across the grate, but do they also help with stability of the cooking chamber temperature?

<p>Yes, the plates do help stabilize the cc temps. they work really well. We also add FireBLack or LavaLock gaskets which go hand in hand to help with stability and efficiencey. </p>

steel gage of those baffle plates?? does it bend a lot with heat?

Hello
I am assembling the OK Joe Highlander now but I have a question.
Do I need to drill the two holes in the chamber to match the two hole at the top of the baffle plates?-
<p>Hi there. That is not necessary. We just drop the plate in. We do not bolt it, so you can remove it for easy cleanign or high temp cooks. They are only there as an option. Its not bad to do if you are traveling with the cooker frequently for bbq competitions. </p>
