LavaLock® 17 x 16 Baffle Plate Horizontal BBQ Smoker (Tuning System)
This plate is 17" long x 16" wide, includes side triangle ears (for better draft control).
Laser cut and computer designed with air flow rate calculations.
These plates will result in PERFECT side to side balanced cook chamber temps.
Allows for precise temperature control, perfect cooks and reduced fuel consumption.
An excellent mod! Easy installation with just a couple of bolts. Get them while they are hot.
STEP 1: Please look for a baffle that is approximately 2 inches narrower than your barrel (for example, if your cook chamber is 18" deep, front to back, you should start by looking for a 16" wide baffle).
STEP 2: Make a cardboard template:
1) Cut a piece of cardboard 16" wide & approx. 20" long.
2) Score two creases in the cardboard. The first one should be at 1-1/2". The second one should be aprrox 6-1/4" from the same end.
3) Bend the second crease to approx 45 degree angle. Bend the first crease to a vertical position (should emulate our baffle angles in the picture) Note: Completed template height should be about 4.5". Overall length 17, width 16.
4)The vertical flange should sit flush with the top of the fire box opening.
The plate will sit about 3.0" below the fire box opening.
If the cardboard sits where you want it, without touching anything like the grill, lid, or any other obstructions, then this plate will very likely fit.
Non-returnable after use or modification.
Not guaranteed to fit your smoker, buy responsible for return shipping and/or possible restock fee.
Lester Ward asks
What is baffle made of??
Terry Baxter asks
I have mounted the 17 x 16 baffle plate in my offset smoker and it fits very well. The issue I have is there is still 7" of open space from the end of my baffle plate to the edge of the smoker where the vent stack is located. Is this 7" to much of a gap and if so how can I fill that?

HI, the 7" of open space is necessary. Withou it, the smoker would not draft properly and it would stall out. The baffle plate will balance the temps left to right, prevent burnt ends and act as a deflector. So the way you have it set up is correct. that is how it was designed. thanks
